LA Water Drink Recipe

how to make LA Water drink recipe, like a long island iced tea

LA Water Drink Based on The LA River

This LA Water drink cocktail is based on the famous LA River. If you’ve ever visited LA or specifically, LA River, then you would know that the coloration is almost dark greenish.

The reason for the odd color is due to trolls…. JK. It’s actually because the water comes from two different sources, which is rain and wastewater treatment plants.

The drink does taste pretty good, regardless of the sewage color, and it’s very similar to a long island iced tea recipe with just a few adjustments.

The differences from the long island iced tea and LA water drink is that melon, raspberry, and blue curacao is added instead of the splash of coke. It has all the white spirits and even more alcohol due to the tasty liquers.

There are many different recipe variations of the drink, so we decided to pick the one that tasted the best and had the best color!

CRAFT PROCESS

Here are some tools you’re going to need

  • Pint or Highball Glass
  • Jigger
  • Mixing Spoon (optional)

1. Add Ice to Glass

You can use either a pint or highball glass. Add ice all the way to the top.

2. Add All Ingredients Into Glass

It’s pretty much equal parts of each liquor and liquer. This LA Water drink does have 4 oz of alcohol in it. If it’s too heavy, the you can leave out the tequila and/or triple sec, in that order. It really doesn’t change the taste of it that much if they were left out. It’s the melon, raspberry, and blue curacao that gives off the unique tasting profile.

  • 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Rum
  • 1/2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1/2 oz Melon Liquer
  • 1/2 oz Raspberry Liquer
  • 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
  • 1/2 oz Sweet & Sour (or fill to top)

3. Mix, Garnish, Insert Straw

This is where the mixing spoon comes in, which is completely optional. It nicely blends the drink if you stir it, but this can be done with a straw.

Garnish the drink with a cherry and orange slice!

  • Maraschino Cherry
  • Orange Slice

Summary

It’s a really good drink and probably even stronger than the long island iced tea based on what’s in it. However, it’s not as common as the long island iced tea, but most bartenders would know how to make it if you did order it.

Otherwise, its an awesome party drink to get the party started. The best part….it doesn’t even taste like sewage.
